Ditch The Diet! Eat Right. Move More. Move On!
Why My Kid is a Genius.
I really can’t wait until my son is like 12. Well, maybe more like 15 or 16. When he stays up late and works hard all day at school, sports, or whatever else he’s into. He will finally collapse into bed, exhausted from the day, and look forward to a long restful night. As he falls asleep, he’ll be thinking about the many hours of peaceful sleep he has ahead of him.
Until 1:32am. When I run into his room and frantically wake him up. To tell him I’m hungry. A little harmless prank?
Or 3:16am. When I just start screaming at the top of my lungs until he comes rushing into my room to make sure I’m ok. Yup I’m fine. I just wanted to see your face. Funny, right? No?
I can’t wait to do that! I probably won’t, but a girl can dream.
For right now, I’m just enjoying every second of him being 4 months old.
Even if it’s at 2:00 in the morning.
When he wants to hang out.
Like the other night. 1:38am. He’s screaming at the top of his lungs. He’s hungry. Here we go.
I get out of bed. Run downstairs. Make a bottle. Back upstairs in no time. The quicker he finishes this bottle, the quicker I get to go back to sleep.
We’re sitting there in peace. I’m watching my little man suck down his midnight snack. He’s so freaking cute.
As soon as he sucks down these 5oz, I can get back in bed. Back to sleep. He just needs to finish this fiver that I made him.
Then my son does the coolest thing. He’s so smart.
He picks up his chunky little hand and pushes his bottle right out of his mouth. A genius actually.
What are you doing buddy? Silly little guy. I put the bottle back in his mouth. So he can finish it.
Back to the bottle. Back to finishing all 5oz. Come on little man, momma wants to go back to bed.
Hand comes back up.
Hand pushes the bottle out of his mouth. Again.
He’s had enough.
Why am I pushing him to finish the fiver? He’s telling me loud and clear he’s had enough! Full momma!
Bingo! I’m reading you loud and clear buddy!
He’s done. His little belly is full. Had enough. Satisfied.
No need to finish all 5oz. He was satisfied with less.
Got the signal loud and clear.
Now why can’t we do that?
Seems like infants have it figured out!
They get hungry. They eat until they’re satisfied. They stop.
What do we do?
We get hungry. We eat until everything is gone. We clean the plate.
What if we all took a lesson from my 4 month old?
What if we ate and pushed ourselves away when we felt satisfied?
What a major piece to this crazy weight loss puzzle!
A major step toward quitting the diet game for good.
Ditch the diet.
Eat. Good, fresh, energizing food.
Until you’re satisfied.
Then push yourself away.
